Acccording to TCRA in collaboration with Mobile Telecoms in Tanzania requested that all subscribers of Vodacom, Tigo, Airtel, Halotel, Zantel TTCL, Smile4G and Smart4G are required to re-register their SIM Cards through bio-metric process (Fingerprints).

You should visit the nearest Mobile Telecom Branch with your National ID Card or NIDA Number to facilitate re-registration process in line with the legal requirements.

Please be reminded that when using or buying a new SIM Card, it is your responsibility to ensure the SIM Card is registered, if you fail to do so you will be punishable by law.

The Electronic and Postal Communications Act, 2010 (Act No. 3/10), failure to comply is a criminal offence and if found guilty appropriate penalties shall apply.

Registering your new SIM Card is simple:

  • 1. Visit any registration points or mobile operator store with your valid identity card.
  • 2. Buy a SIM Card.
  • 3. Provide your details to the registration agent, and your portrait and ID are captured.
  • 4. Put your signature to confirm the captured information is correct.
  • 5. Your SIM Card will then become active.

Accepted IDs from now are:

  • 1. National ID
  • 2. Zanzibar Resident ID
  • 3. Voters’ Card
  • 4. Passport
  • 5. Driving License

*For foreigners, on registering SIM cards ID to be used is only Passport.

Please dial *106# to verify your registration status and ensure your name is correct.

In the case where the information is incorrect, kindly visit your service provider’s shop for corrections.
