Sharp Aqous S3 & S3 Mini Expected to Launch on 16th January


Sharp Aqous S3 and Aqous S3 Mini is expected to launch on the 16th of January in Taipei, Taiwan. This information was shared on a Chinese micro blogging website Weibo where they posted an image of the event.

According to the information, the event will be at 2pm Taipei local time. A Qualcomm logo can be seen on the poster indicating the Sharp Aqous will be powered by a Snapdragon processor and even it’s mentioned that the new gen smartphone will be called Sharp Aqous S3.

The Sharp Aquos S3 is the successor to Sharp Aquos S2 which was launched on August of 2017. The Aqous S3 will feature a bezel-less display and will come in two variants which will have different processors and have different memory configurations.


According to recent leaks, the Aqous S3 smartphone is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, wirh an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Sharp Aqous S3 (Model: Sharp FS8032) will be powered by a Snapdragon 630 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal srorage.

It is suggested that Sharp will introduce a mini and higher-end model where the higher-end will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage while the Sharp Aqous S3 Mini will feature a 5.48-inch display with a resolution of 2040 x 1080 pixels a 17:9 aspect ratio and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box rather than Oreo.

Meanwhile, the rumor suggests that the Aqous S3 will feature a 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel dual-camera on its rear, and it will be a vertically placed system, much like on the Sharp FS8015 which also leaked a few days back while selfies will be handled by a 16-megapixel shooter. The Aqous S3 will also feature a rear fingerprint scanner.

The Sharp Aqous S3 will support fast charging with a battery capacity of 3,100mAh and will be the first Sharp device to run Androud 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It will come with a single 16-megapixel rear sensor and a 20-megapixel shooter on the front.

The Sharp Aquos S2 went on sale on August last year, and was quite popular in China, and it remains to be seen if the Aquos S3 will be a worthy successor.
