In recent months, there were rumors speculating about Apple & Samsung having fingerprint sensor under the display of their flagship phones. But it looks like VIVO, a Chinese brand has reached first in implementing this feature. The VIVO device is available for users at the CES2018 Technoogy show in Las Vegas.
Setting up your fingerprint on the phone and then using it to unlock the phone and authenticte payments is the same process as the traditional fingerprint sensor.
The fingerprint sensor feature on the VIVO is a newly announced Synaptics optical sensor, which has been in development for years. The fingerprint sensor is placed between the pixels in an OLED display (Not possible on the LCD display) and scanning your unique patterned fingerprint.
Samsung & Synaptics planned to add this feature on the Samsug S8, but it wasnt posssible as the sensor wouldn’t be ready on time for the launch of Samsung S8.
VIVO is close to announcing the unnamed device as the mass production has been initiated.
The VIVO phone is a 6-inch display with minimal bezel similar to The OnePlus 5T
