CES 2018: Colgate Smart Electronic Toothbrush with AI

Colgate at CES2018 announced the launch of its first electronic toothbrush called the Colgate Smart Electronic Toothbrush E1 with AI (Artificial Intelligence).

Apple will be the exclusive seller, it will be available on Apple.com and in some Apple retail locations.

Colgate’s new product will be app-enabled and will provide real-time feedback on your smartphone device to help users improve their brushing routine.

The electronic toothbrush E1 uses Apple’s ResearchKit in order to share the toothbrushing data with other users to make the toothbrush more smarter. and “about oral care for better and faster future innovation.” Apples ResearchKit is a software framework that lets medical researchers collect data from apps and programs, working with CareKit agreement to provide users with a better understanding of their specific medical conditions.

“Our goal is simple. We want people to have their healthiest smiles by brushing their best,” said Dr. Patricia Verduin, Chief Technology Officer, Colgate-Palmolive Company. “The first step to improving brushing is to understand consumers’ brushing habits, and Apple ResearchKit has proved to be a powerful tool for this.”

Colgate’s electronic toothbrush is like other devices; Phillips which performs similar functions such as providing users with real time feedbackthrough an iPhone app which will help to improve brushing habits. The E1 electrnic toothbrush includes various sensors uncluding 3D motiin sensors and AI alghoritms to detect brushing effectiveness “in 16 zones of the mouth.”

The toothbrush AI technology was created in partnership with Kolibree while the connected app educates users through brushing sessions which points out the sections of the mouth where the user needs to focus daily.

The benefit of the AI is that it learns and adapt to each user, adjusting to their habits and providing brushing tips to improve the users health condition.

Colgate will be available on Apple.com and in some Apple stores, and will be priced at $99.95.
